Your guide to temporary and temp-to-hire employment with Contact 1

What does Contact 1 do?

We are a staffing and recruiting firm. We receive requests from businesses in the DC – Maryland – Virginia area who need help filling positions within their company. We then look for qualified candidates that might fit the role, interview and prepare them, and set up an interview with the client company. If they agree with us that the candidate is the best fit for the position, they work with us to bring you on their team. Our job is to help our client companies find the best candidates to fill their open jobs – and that means you!

What is the difference between direct hire and temporary (contract) or temp-to-hire opportunities?

A direct hire opportunity through Contact 1 is when we place a candidate in a permanent opportunity with a client. Instead of being hired by Contact 1, you are hired by the client directly. This process is normally more intensive and might include multiple rounds of interviews. Direct hire opportunities tend to be mid to senior level positions.

A temporary (contract) assignment could be a few days, weeks, or months, but the role is expected to end at some point. With a temporary job, you are employed by Contact 1 and assigned to the client company for the duration of the assignment. At the end of your contract, Contact 1 will work with you to identify a new opportunity.

With a temp-to-hire position, the client makes it clear from the beginning that they are looking for a candidate for the long-term. Temp-to-hire allows both the client and candidate to make sure the job is a good fit before making a final hiring decision. After a trial period, if both the client and candidate are satisfied, the client can hire the candidate as a permanent employee.

What types of jobs do you have available?

We are always receiving new requests from clients and we post all our open positions on our job board. Check out our current opportunities here.

How do I apply for a position?

Go to the Search Jobs page to review the positions we currently have open. A brief description of each job is available and you can submit your resume to apply for the position.

What if I want to work with Contact 1 but the jobs currently available are not a good fit for my skills and experience?

We receive new staffing requests from our clients all the time. If you would like to make sure we have your information on file for future opportunities, go to the Quick Apply page and send us your resume. We’ll reach out when we have an opportunity that might be a good fit for you.

Do I need to call if I have already submitted a resume online?

If you have submitted your resume through our website, it will automatically get added to our database. Our recruiters will review it and reach out if your skills and experience meet the requirements of an open position. Even if you don’t hear from a recruiter right away, we get new jobs every day and your resume stays in our database as searchable for future positions that are a good match for your background.

Where are you located?

Our offices are located at the corner of 11th St. NW and H St. NW in the Gaslight Building. We are about 1 block north of the Metro Center metro strop at 12th St. NW and G St. NW.

I live outside of the DMV area. Can I still apply for a job?

While some of our positions may be remote, the majority of our assignments require that you be living within the area and could go into the office if necessary.
